Relief Efforts Needing Traction For Houston

$5,030 of $50,000 raised so far!

RECENT UPDATE 9/13/2017:

METAD has facilitated supplying St. Leo's with over 200 boxes of much needed food and miscellaneous items. Those who were in need were extremely grateful and were delighted to have someone in their corner giving them a helping hand-up.

Because of the success of this program in Houston, we are looking to replicate it in either the Beaumont area of Texas, or a church in Immokalee, Florida, who was hit by hurricane Irma. More to come on this in a new blog post, sure to be posted this week!

The newest donations received for this hurricane Harvey relief will be going to the following for St. Leo The Great Parish in Houston:

  • 1,500 pounds of beans
  • 1,500 pounds of rice
  • 1 pallet of bleach
  • 1 pallet of miscellaneous cleaning items

RECENT UPDATE 9/5/2017:

These supplies are currently feeding 2 meals a day to 350-400+ people. Distribution of pantry, clothes, water, baby items and are occurring all day, everyday as needed!

People can apply for FEMA assistance on site, locate loved ones through church phones, and spiritual services are available. Let's keep up the great work folks.

UP NEXT: METAD is now reaching out to a parish in the Corpus Christi area with the goal of duplicating this program to reach more affected by the storm.

RECENT UPDATE 9/1/2017:

METAD has committed an immediate $5,000 to purchase from a Sam’s Club near the Houston Church. Those items will be satisfying their immediate needs, while we continue to prepare a truckload of the items that they have requested from our local communities. Personnel from the diocese in Houston will pick up the items later today and immediately start distribution to those being sheltered in the church.

We continue to work to bring in funds to meet our goal of $50,000 in order to ensure the needs are met on a day-to-day basis. METAD is monitoring the procurement and the distribution very closely and its gaining support!

Our president Michlle Noordhof has done an immaculate job fostering a strong and dedicated partnership with St. Peter/San Conrado Scalabrini outreach program in Los Angeles. The church has worked incredibly hard to meet the ever growing needs of Houston and we thank them for their continued support.

METAD would also like to thank Western Michigan, Spartanburg SC, and our representative there - Jeanie Kellett for working tirelessly to secure physical and monetary donations to ship to Houston.

Keep up the great work volunteers, donors, and philanthropists! More to follow as it unfolds!

We've already seen the many great citizens of our nation drop their obligations and head to Texas to rescue those who are stranded in their homes. Now that thousands have been rescued and have nothing to depend on, METAD and its partners are calling on the rest of our nation to rally behind these victims and support them in the trying months ahead.

Please consider donating to the relief effort through METAD, in partnership with St. Leo The Great Parish and the St. Peter Scalabrini outreach program, so that we can provide the vast amount of aid required to support those who have lost everything in the Hurricane. METAD hopes to raise $50,000 to procure and fill the needs gaps and transportation costs from California and South Carolina!

Now is the time to support the victims.
